“Still Dancing 2”

Suzanne Scott Constantine, 2020
acrylic and ink plus photo collage, 16″ x 12″

These two pieces began as monoprints of highly saturated orange, yellow and red hues, symbolic of intense heat. The collage overlays are different sizes of the “Crepe Myrtle Dancer” cut-out from Lynne Scott Constantine’s original photograph (seen in number 12). The dancer’s tutu, reinforced with ink outlines, is a version of the lichen on the crepe myrtle tree. No matter what happens, the dancer survives, demonstrating resilience, perseverance, and strength.
