“Microcosmos 2”

Suzanne Scott Constantine, 2020
collage and mixed media on aluminum panels, mounted on stained and burned raw canvas, 18″ x 14″

These pieces began as painted aluminum square panels. Each contains multiple layers of acrylic paint, scored and repainted. Each was later topped with a geli-print circle created on deli-paper. That step was followed by adding crackle to the circles to represent the brokenness and cracks in our world and our lives. The final step in creating the mini cosmos was to add metallic paint to the circles to indicate possibility and potential. Each of the aluminum squares was then mounted on a tea-stained and burned piece of raw canvas, representing the strength of connections and the bonds that generate resilience and beauty in the midst of isolation.
