Each year for nearly three decades, Glenn Eure’s Ghost Fleet Gallery has sponsored a Self-Portrait Show that opens on April Fools Day. 

Each year since we moved to the Outer Banks in 2018, we’ve participated in the show to honor the tradition, as well as the many years of work by the late Glenn Eure and his wife, the multitalented writer and gallerist Pat Eure. 

You still have a few days to see the show. Enjoy the work of more than four dozen visual artists who have contributed self-portraits in a wide range of media. In addition, nearly two dozen writers submitted literary self-portraits in traditional and non-traditional genres.

Both of us contributed work in both categories. Lynne’s visual piece, “Security Check,” received a Judge’s Special Award; Suzanne’s literary piece, “No Ordinary Woman,” received Honorable Mention (i.e., second place).
