In the creation stories of numerous cultures, including many cultures indigenous to North America, our world rests on the back of a giant turtle. In this image, I imagine our broken-and-repaired, kintsugi-cup world on the back of a sea turtle who manages to keep the vessel aloft despite its precarious tilt.
Sea turtles are nearly always on a mission: they know where they are going and what they need to do when they get there. Who better to look out for us as we try to find our way to a better tomorrow?
