mixed media on canvas, 20″ x 16″
Following the transformation that occurs in the Phoenix Process is a fallow stage. Without encumbrances, we are able to analyze what happened in the process. We have time to take a pause, to breathe, to relinquish, to rest, to take stock. What have we learned? What were the signs of the coming experience? Attentiveness to the tremulous changes in the atmosphere will serve us well to prepare for the next transformation.
The feathers in these mixed media pieces symbolize freedom. The mythic bird takes on a radiant new form and rises; the feathers are evidence of the process. In these artworks, the feathers — drawn and made — float randomly in an imaginary atmosphere. In this first one, the feathers are intimations of hope for a brighter future.
